We offer E-mentoring where mentors and mentees work by e-mail, Skype, FaceTime, Teams, Zoom etc. The main benefit is that it can be done anywhere and at any time so that the mentor and mentee do not need to be geographically close or working at the same time. This will allow for more reflective responses.
Obviously, time zones will need to be taken into account when arranging a meeting, but this workable.
This second cohort will run from March 2021 to November 2021. We envisage that the programme is rewarding for both mentor and mentee.
We introduce participants to the Thinking EnvironmentTM , developed by Nancy Kline (President and Founder of Time to Think). The Thinking EnvironmentTM has been adapted as an approach for our mentoring scheme where we focus on a single most important factor, that the quality of an individual’s thinking is determined by how they are being treated by the mentor with them while they are thinking. We also focus on accessing the talent of all people, irrespective of background, languages, hierarchy or power across diverse settings and encourage mentees to do their own independent thinking of the highest quality with the support of mentors. Mentors will receive training on the Thinking EnvironmentTM .
How will we match mentors and mentees?
The mentor and mentee will be brought together by a scheme co-ordinator. On application mentees will be asked for information about what they hope to achieve. The information is used to match mentors to mentees.
Also, mentors will be asked which areas they would like to mentor in for example, mentees wishing to take the next career step, managing work life balance, changing careers etc.
